What instruments for the 21st century?

To our knowledge, this is the world’s first festival dedicated to augmented instruments!

Take a traditionally crafted instrument (flute, violin, piano, or electric guitar) and add microphones, sensors, and a whole host of other equipment to allow the musician to modify the sound of their instrument live using a computer. The result is what we call an augmented instrument.

These three days of the festival will be an opportunity to (re)discover the approach that Les Chemins de Traverse has been developing in this area since 2010, through the revival of a selection of projects and new creations. In addition to concerts and performances featuring dance, spoken word, and visual arts, there will also be a conference and roundtables bringing together specialists from around the world to discuss the instruments of the 21st century.
