Originalité du projet

Each spring project, as part of their semestrial concert tour, the Dutch Flute Academy collaborates with Dutch or Belgian flute teachers resulting in a festive Combi Concert. During a Combi Concert, the Neflac Ensemble gives a solo performance, yet also accompanies 70 or more flute students (age 5 to 80) on stage. Together they work at repertoire matching all levels of playing, divided in different groups. After an inspirational and intensive day of rehearsal led by Jeroen Bron and Wieke Karsten (Royal Conservatoire The Hague), they proudly present their work in a concert for which the students can invite friends and family. This concept had proven to be an enormous inspiration for both the members of the Neflac Ensemble, the flute teachers and their students.

In the Golden Flute Classic Festival, we would like to present: 1) a 30 minutes concert by the Neflac Ensemble and 2) the formula of the Combi Concert in a 3 hour workshop including a short presentation concert. This workshop will be open to flute teachers and amateur flute students aged 6 to 25 years old. In this way, we hope to inspire flute teachers and young flutists, in the same way we have proven to do in the Netherlands.

For the concert of the Neflac Ensemble, we would like to collaborate with one of the top flautists that will be present as artist at the festival. In 2023, the famous Italian flautist Silvia Carredu performed the Ballade by Carl Reinecke together with – and in an arrangement of – the Neflac Ensemble. This artistic collaboration showed to be an extremely inspiring opportunity for both the members of the ensemble, the soloist and the audience. We would therefore kindly ask the Golden Flute Classic Festival to propose to us a list of top performers that we can get in touch with.

Lien avec l’identité du Golden Flute Classic et/ou du label « Signature Genève 2027 »

The Neflac Ensemble is a unique and leading flute ensemble and would fit perfectly in the programme of the Golden Flute Classic because of its outstanding playing and performance.

With their impressive combination of high quality and unlimited energy the Neflac Ensemble has become an inspiration for many young flautists in the Netherlands and Belgium. Part of the mission of the Dutch Flute Academy is to support a thriving flute community in The Netherlands and we hope to bring this to Genève in 2027.

We bring artistic excellence to flute teachers and their students through the innovative format of the ‘Combiconcert’. We have proven to inspire and encourage a large amount of young flute players to keep playing the flute and hope to share this knowledge during the Golden Flute Classic 2027.

Pédagogie

The Neflac Ensemble is bedded on the educational vision about the power of peer learning. It consists of highly motivated young flute talents, Dutch conservatoire flute students and young professionals, all aged between 13 and 25 years old. With an impressive combination of excellence and energy they have become an inspiration for many young flautists in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Part of the mission of the Dutch Flute Academy is to support a thriving flute community in The Netherlands. We engage young talents and young professionals through the Neflac Ensemble, we support flute teachers and inspire their students.
Unfortunately, an impressive amount of flute students stops around the age of 13 after having entered high school. It has shown to be hard for teachers to motivate these young flute students to continue playing. They often lack role models their own age and often miss a connection with other young musicians having similar passions. Being part of a Combi Concert has proven to support young talents to keep on playing and to realize in what way music making and flute playing can be part of their growing identity as young adolescents.

Another part of the mission of the Dutch Flute Academy is to encourage young flute students to ‘get the best out of themselves’ and to develop a healthy sense of ambition. Before 2009, the amount of Dutch flute students at Dutch conservatoires was dramatically diminishing. Since the foundation of the Neflac, we can proudly state that currently, 30% of the flute students at Dutch Conservatoires hold a Dutch nationality.

We hope to share our experiences and contribute to a lively flute community in Switzerland!
