Biography

Born in 1982, Anne-Laure Pantillon was immersed in music from a very young age thanks to her family. She learned piano with her pianist father and then, at the age of 8, chose the flute.

After graduating with a scientific baccalaureate in 2001, she devoted herself entirely to her instrument and, in June 2003, earned a teaching diploma with distinction from Christian Mermet’s class at the Neuchâtel Conservatory. She continued her studies in Basel with Felix Renggli, obtaining a concert diploma in 2006 and a soloist diploma in 2007, both with distinction.

Co-principal flutist of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra since January 2014, Anne-Laure Pantillon served as interim principal flute from 2015 to 2017.

From 2002 to 2008, she played in the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra. She then served as interim second flute/piccolo of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra for the 2008-2009 season and as principal flute of the Fribourg Chamber Orchestra from 2009 to 2014.

She has also been a lecturer at the Lucerne University of Music since 2013, after teaching at the Neuchâtel Conservatory of Music from 2011 to 2016.

Anne-Laure Pantillon regularly performs in recital with pianist Marc Pantillon, as well as in chamber music ensembles in various groups, notably with her colleagues from the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. She has performed at the Gstaad Festival in 2006, the “Musical Encounters with Cédric Pescia” in 2010, the Espace 2 Schubertiades on several occasions, and the Braunwald Festival.

She has also had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Neuchâtel Chamber Orchestra, the Fribourg Chamber Orchestra, and the Neues Zürcher Orchester. In April 2010, she performed Penderecki’s Concerto and Chaminade’s Concertino with the Zurich Symphony Orchestra at the Tonhalle in Zurich.

Anne-Laure Pantillon has won several first prizes at regional and national competitions, including at the Swiss final of the Youth Music Competition in 2001 – in a piano duo, in La Chaux-de-Milieu and at the Competition organized for the centenary of the Kursaal in Bern in 2003, at the Pierre d’Or in Neuchâtel, as well as at the Riddes Musical Performance Competition in 2005. She was also a finalist in the Bayreuth International Competition (2005) and a laureate of the Orpheus Competition 2008.

In 2009, she won third prize at the Valiant Bank Soloists Competition, which led to seven solo performances with the Biel Symphony Orchestra, at the KKL in Lucerne, and at the Kursaal in Bern.

She is a recipient of the Migros, Friedl-Wald, Kiefer-Hablitzel and Dienemann scholarships.
