Biography<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

Felix Renggli was born in Basel, Switzerland. He studied flute with Gerhard Hildenbrand, Aur\u00e8le Nicolet, and Peter-Lukas Graf. He completed his studies at the Basel Music Academy with a soloist diploma and subsequently performed as principal flutist in various orchestras, including the IMF Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra, the Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and the Camerata Bern. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Renggli is a prizewinner of national and international competitions and regularly gives masterclasses across Europe, South America, Japan, China, and Australia. His active concert career has taken him as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, South America, the USA, Japan, and China, with performances at numerous international festivals. His long-standing collaboration with oboist, conductor, and composer Heinz Holliger has provided him with significant artistic inspiration. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1994, Renggli succeeded P.-L. Graf in taking over a teaching and concert class at the Basel University of Music. From 2004 to 2014, he also served as professor at the State University of Music in Freiburg im Breisgau. Since autumn 2015, he has also been teaching at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

His musical activities span from contemporary music\u2014with numerous premieres with the “Swiss Chamber Soloists” and the “Ensemble Contrechamps”\u2014to the classical chamber and solo repertoire, and historically informed performances of early music on period instruments. He has made numerous CD recordings. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1999, together with cellist Daniel Haefliger and violist J\u00fcrg D\u00e4hler, he founded Switzerland\u2019s first nationwide chamber music series, the “Swiss Chamber Concerts,” and shares its artistic direction with them. In 2020, they were awarded the Swiss Music Prize. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
